HELP ST. MARY’S TEE OFF ON HUNGER DURING BIRDIES FOR BUCKS

Help earn big bucks for St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance by making a pledge in the Birdies for Charity competition at the 2010 Waste Management Phoenix Open.

Simply pledge as little as one penny for every birdie that is made during by the PGA pros during the four rounds of the tournament at the TPC of Scottsdale from Feb. 25-28. It is estimated that between 1,500 and 1,800 birdies will be carded during the tournament, although inclement weather may hold the final totals down.

If your pledge is one penny per birdie and 1,500 are made, your donation to the Food Bank would be $15. You will receive an invoice from Thunderbirds Charities for your donation amount, and they will make sure you pledge winds up with the St. Mary’s total.

Thunderbirds Charities will add a 10 percent bonus to the total amount of pledges raised to SMFBA, meaning your donation will be worth even more to the Food Bank. For more information on the program, visit www.birdiesforcharityarizona.com. Pledge deadline is Feb. 28, so step up and slice out hunger with your donation today.

U.S. Bank Arizona Celebration of Lights Raises nearly 15,000 pounds of food for SMFBA

The 12th Annual U.S. Bank Arizona Celebration of Lights once again dazzled patrons young and old and illuminated the issue of hunger in the Valley during the important season of giving.

While enjoying more than 7 million lights over a one-mile journey set to the music of the holidays, thousands of families and friends earned discounted admission while donating nearly 15,000 pounds of non-perishable items to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance – making it one of SMFBA’s largest food drives of the holiday season and one which fed thousands of hungry Arizonans during the holidays will continue to do so beyond.

To U.S. Bank, the many workers and volunteers that makes Arizona’s largest display of holiday lights a holiday must-see and all those who donated during the celebration’s run, St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance thanks you for your support and the opportunity to serve the community on your behalf.

More than Food. Hope.
