CHASE BANK CONTRIBUTES $275,000 DONATION OF TWO REFRIGERATED TRUCKS TO HELP HUNGRY IN ARIZONA

St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, United Food Bank and Chase will hold a news conference announcing Chase’s donation of state-of-the-art food delivery trucks, supplying Arizona’s hungry with fruits, vegetables and other fresh foods. Please join us to help raise awareness about hunger, an issue affecting over 49 million Americans.

The event is part of Chase’s $5 million nationwide donation to Feeding America’s network of food banks. The national donation will support hunger-fighting initiatives, supplying 34 trucks to 20 food banks in communities hit hard by the recession.

Thousands of JPMorgan Chase employees have been collecting food to present St. Mary’s and United Food Banks each a truck full of nutritious food. In addition, the donation includes operating expenses for the first year, for a total donation value of more than $275,000.

In these tough times, more and more Arizonans do not know where their next meal is coming from. New statistics revealed last week showed the biggest increase in poverty levels in 50 years. In Arizona, over 1 million people live in poverty, including an estimated 1 in 4 children. Plus, thousands of Arizona families are part of the working poor, who need assistance with basic needs like nutritious food.
