One-Mile Zombie Walk, “Beauty” Pageant and Raffle Highlight Activities; Proceeds from Inaugural Event to Benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.
Phoenix, AZ – The call is out to fans of the macabre for a great night of celebration as the first-ever Phoenix Zombie Fest is scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 24 at Rawhide in Chandler.
One goal is to raise food and funds to benefit St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, but the other is to bring Valley residents who enjoy all that surrounds the Halloween season together.
The night begins at 6 p.m. with a one-mile zombie walk, followed by a zombie beauty pageant where the costume and makeup abilities can truly be appreciated by all. The night is capped by a raffle, with the proceeds helping St. Mary Food Bank Alliance collect and distribute enough food to provide 275,000 meals around Arizona each day.
“There are so many people that suffer hunger that we simply don’t notice, especially in these economic times,” said Christine Heintz, founder and organizer of the Phoenix Zombie Fest. “This event will be a fun-filled evening that ties in perfectly with the Halloween season and will help those in need.”
