2nd Annual BIKER FOOD CHALLENGE RAISES 35,000 MEALS FOR ST. MARY’S
More than doubling their total from last year’s inaugural event, the Harley Davidson Owners Group (HOG) Food Drive collected enough food and cash for St. Mary’s Food Bank to distribute 35,000 meals just as thoughts turn to the holiday season.
Nearly 100 Harley riders made a five-hour trek from Glendale, to Anthem, to Phoenix, to Scottsdale and finally Apache Junction on Sunday, collecting more than 14,000 food items on the way to a trophy ceremony and celebration at Superstition Harley Davidson.
A big thanks to Superstition owner Beverly LeResche – not only because her chapter won the challenge with more than 8,000 food items collected, but for hosting the riders and their friends and serving a celebration luncheon at the dealership Sunday. Thanks also to even founders Ken and Annette Gray, Phoenix Traffic Control for acting as escorts and the groups from Hacienda (Scottsdale), Buddy Stubbs (Phoenix), Anthem and Arrowhead who also took part in the three-month challenge.
Harley Riders have now provided more than 50,000 meals in the first two years of this event, and plan to go even higher next year. St. Mary’s is proud to be associated with this generous and caring group. We’re already looking forward to Biker Challenge 2011.
