The 2011 Waste Management Phoenix Open is just around the corner, and St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance is again a beneficiary of the annual ‘Birdies for Charities,’ program hosted by Thunderbird Charities. It’s a fun way to keep track of your favorite golfers and make a donation to help Arizona’s hungry.
Simply pledge one cent or more for every birdie that will be made by the PGA TOUR players in all four rounds of the Waste Management Phoenix Open, which runs Thursday Feb. 3 through Sunday Feb. 6. Be sure to select St. Mary’s Food Bank as your charity of choice to have your pledges come to us.
You can pledge anywhere from a penny per birdie on up. Typically, the number of birdies in the Waste Management Open ranges between 1,300 and 1,800 birdies. So for example, if 1,500 birdies are made:
Each $.01 pledge = $15
Each $.02 pledge = $30
Each $.03 pledge = $45
Each $.10 pledge =$150
As an added bonus, Thunderbird Charities will match and tack on an extra 10 percent to the total pledges collected for each charity. So if Birdies for Charities collects $10,000 in pledges for St. Mary’s Food Bank, the program will an extra $1,000.
