SCOUTING FOR FOOD IN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD … CAN YOU HELP?

On Saturday, Feb. 5th, the Boy Scouts of America, Grand Canyon Council, will be coming door to door throughout the Valley, conducting their annual “Scouting for Food” drive to benefit local food banks, including St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. If you receive a door hanger from them, that means you’re one of the households on the pickup route, and you can help them reach their goal of collection 300,000 pounds of food statewide.

All the Scouts are asking residents to do is place non-perishable food donations out on their doorsteps in the provided bags by 7 a.m., and they will do the rest. No glass containers or open packages, please.

Didn’t get a door hanger? You can still help. St. Mary’s will have a special drop-off location at the Bashas in Surprise at 15367 West Waddell Road. Boy Scout troops will also be stationed at other Bashas’ sites around the Valley on Feb. 5 to encourage shoppers to participate. Help the Boys Scouts, celebrating the 101st anniversary of the organization, continue their good works in the community.
