They won’t knock on your door at 7 am on a Saturday, but if they find a filled Bashas grocery bag on your door step, then they will make a quiet visit on behalf of Arizona’s hungry. On Feb. 5th, the Boy Scouts will be found scanning Valley neighborhoods for donations to the annual “Scouting for Food” drive. Homes that receive a door hanger and plastic bag in the next few weeks will be invited to fill the bag with non-perishable food that will benefit local food banks, including St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance. No glass or open containers, please.
Last year, St. Mary’s received over 12,000 pounds of food from the Scouts, and the Scouts are looking to give even more this time around.
St. Mary’s will also have a drop off location at the Bashas in Surprise at 15367 W. Waddell Road on the same day for those who did not receive a hanger and scouts will be stationed at Bashas stores all around the state encouraging shoppers to take part in the drive.
