“Giving is Winning” won the Best Meals award, and “Freedom from Hunger” won Best Use of Labels, Jurors Favorite, and Most Cans at the 2010 Phoenix Canstruction® awards ceremony. But who – or what – will top them this year?

Canstruction will be rising from the ground on March 5 at its new location, Red Development CityScape in downtown Phoenix, for the fifth annual design and build competition. Teams of artists and designers will create sculptures completely out of canned and other non-perishable food. After all the winners are announced and the event comes to an end, the teams will “De-Canstruct” the creations, and donate the more than 50,000 cans of food used to St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance.

Come down and view Canstruction live on March 5, and over the next week you can cast your vote for the People’s Choice award and participate in the on-site food drive. Watch these teams get creative to help St. Mary’s fight hunger in Arizona. For more information and a peak at a time-lapse video of last year’s event, check out http://www.phoenixcanstruction.org.
